Home Learning Support Teachers (HLST)
This position is ideal for creative, enthusiastic teachers who value a flexible, individualized approach to education from a Christian perspective. Applicants should be elementary specialists K – 7) and enjoy learning about curricula that supports varied learning styles. Applicants work from home and must be comfortable communicating with families and students through online learning management systems and in-person visits (2 – 4 times a year). Strong organizational skills are an asset. Applicants may wish to consider teaching in our onsite classes in addition to Home Learning Support Teacher work.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

High School Teachers
We are looking for talented high school teachers to join our team! Various positions are available in online, livestream, and onsite settings across our Island and Lower Mainland locations, supporting students who are learning from home, guiding them through the Ministry of Education expectations, and providing formative and summative assessment. Applicants should be available to work in our onsite learning programs, with options ranging from several days per year to one or more days per week, based on our blended learning program needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be certified by the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools and trained and proficient in at least two or three subject areas. Applicants must be Christian and must agree with RCOA’s Statement of Faith.

Inclusive Education Coordinators
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Inclusive Education Director, Inclusive Education Coordinators provide quality educational services to inclusive education students and their parents in a home learning setting, working alongside the parents and education team to plan and implement student IEP programs.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must be certified by the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools, must be Christian, and must agree with RCOA’s Statement of Faith.
Applicants should have experience and/or education related to working with individuals with inclusive education needs. This could include, but is not limited to ASD, FASD, Cerebral Palsy, Chronic Health Impairments, Hearing Loss, Visual Impairments, Learning Disabilities, Behaviour or Mental Health concerns, etc. Applicants must enjoy the opportunity to support families who have chosen to educate their children with inclusive education needs in a home learning environment.
Training or experience in modifying or adapting curriculum, creating IEPs, and compile funding justification documents is an asset.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to recognize learning challenges, prescribe remediation and evaluate student progress.
- Understand the dynamics and challenges faced by families with children with inclusive education needs.
- Be able to work effectively as a member of an educational team, collaborating with parents, EA’s, general education staff, therapy providers, support personnel and community agencies.
- Strong behaviour management and positive discipline skills; flexible.
- Some experience or training in interpreting standardized scores and relevant details found in Ed Psych and other assessment reports.

Learning Support Coordinator
Under the direction of the Learning Support Director (LSD) the Learning Support Coordinator will provide quality educational services to Learning Support students and their parents in a home learning setting, working alongside teachers, parents, and other team members to plan and implement the student’s LSP (Learning Support Plan) or IEP (Individual Education Plan).
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must be certified by the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools, must be Christian, and must agree with RCOA’s Statement of Faith.
Applicants should have experience and/or education related to working with individuals who have Learning Support needs. This could include, but is not limited to, Learning Disabilities, and Behaviour or Mental Health concerns. Applicants must enjoy the opportunity to support families who have chosen to educate their children in a home learning environment.
Applicants should have experience adapting curriculum, writing IEPs and LSPs with SMART goals, and be committed to timely intervention to help students succeed.

Partners In Education Teachers
This position is ideal for creative and enthusiastic teachers who are interested in a blended learning approach, combining one day a week of classroom instruction with supplemental activities that students complete at home. PIE teachers plan, teach, and assess learners in Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and ADST through hands-on learning and project-based assignments. Applicants should enjoy working in a team with other teachers and support staff. PIE positions range from 0.285 – 0.35 FTE.
QUALIFICATIONS:
PIE Teachers must be certified by the B.C. Teachers Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools, must be Christian, and must agree with RCOA’s Statement of Faith. Non-certified individuals may apply to work as an Assistant Teacher under the mentorship of a certified teacher.

Experience and education related to working with students in online learning and project-based learning is an asset but not required.

Community Club Instructors
Community Club Instructors plan and teach a theme-based unit with a different focus each term (3 terms, 7 classes/term). Community Club classes are high energy, and students learn through hands-on, project-based activities. Instructors are caring, high-energy, work well in a team, and are able to make learning accessible to students of diverse abilities. Note: Instructors post a summary of each week’s class on Seesaw, but formal assessment is not part of this assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
Community Club Instructors must be certified by the B.C. Teachers Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools, must be Christian, and must agree with RCOA’s Statement of Faith. Non-certified individuals may apply to work under the mentorship of a certified teacher.

Outdoor Explorations Instructors
Outdoor Explorations Instructors plan and teach this enrichment program through local place-based, inquiry-play, experiential learning. Students explore the biodiversity found in local areas, learn survival and safety skills, and develop environmental literacy through hands-on activities. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, instructors teach an on-site outdoor class 21 days in the year (3 terms; 7 classes per term; 5 hours per class).
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
Teachers who are certified by the B.C. Teachers Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools are preferred; however, applications from non-certified individuals who meet all other criteria will be considered. Applicants must also be Christian and must agree with RCOA’s Statement of Faith.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience related to working in outdoor education based programs is required. Experience with Online and Home Learning is an asset but not required.

Education Assistants
RCOA is committed to empowering students to reach their potential. Through purposeful inclusion we encourage students to develop their gifts, become self-advocates, and gain independence as valued members of their communities.
Educational Assistants assist the classroom teacher in completing a variety of organizational tasks in addition to supporting groups of students in completing learning activities. Support may include scribing, giving direction to small groups, reading with students, playground supervision, preparing class materials, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
Experience and/or EA certification is an asset; however, those with a strong interest, related experience or training and a willingness to learn will also be considered. Christian individuals with an empathetic nature, experience working with school-aged children, and a willingness to take initiative and be flexible are encouraged to apply.

Education Assistants (Inclusive Education Program)
EAs within our Inclusive Education Program implement pre-planned lessons and life skills activities, assist students with therapy follow-up, and support students in RCOA classes and clubs through a team approach. Support from therapists, a home learning support teacher, parents, and the inclusive education coordinator is provided. EAs work with children with a range of physical, health, behavioural, and learning needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience and/or EA certification is an asset; however, those with a strong interest, related experience or training and a willingness to learn will also be considered. Christian individuals with an empathetic nature, experience working with school-aged children, and a willingness to take initiative and be flexible are encouraged to apply.
All EA positions in our inclusive education department require a current Criminal Record Clearance and Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR and AED. Some assignments require additional certification/training (e.g., diabetes monitoring).
