We Are Here to Support You

Dear Families,

Yesterday we met (virtually!) with RCOA’s Admin team to pray together and discuss a plan to continue to support RCOA families in light of the mandated school closures. We are grateful to be a part of a team who’s hope and comfort is found in God. He never promised all of life would be easy but did make a promise to go before us, to be with us, and to never leave or forsake us (Dueteronomy 31:8). What an amazing God we serve!

We have been proud to see our families reaching out to friends to answer questions and to say ‘I can help’. We love that RCOA is known for community and relationships, and we are glad that we can offer help and smooth the path a little for our public and private schooled friends who are not part of RCOA. We will be sharing inspiration and encouragement to all families through our RCOA Facebook page and our NEW Instagram page. Please share those pages with friends who have questions and would like encouragement. We’ll also share encouragement and support through our website.

Please know that we are here for you. We want to provide as much stability as we can by continuing to offer our classes and support, even though we can’t meet in person. Our staff is planning ways to use FreshGrade, Canvas, and ZOOM to offer our K – 12 F2F classes and are intentionally working to incorporate times where learners can connect, virtually, with each other. We value community and relationships. To support our face-to-face teachers as we transition to a new program delivery model, all face-to-face classes will resume one week later than planned (April 3rd for Burnaby and Chilliwack PIE and the week of April 6th for all other classes).

As homeschoolers, you are also affected by closures to recreational facilities, libraries, and many lessons and activities. The good news is that there are many options available online! Here are a few ideas:

  • Check out mYrcoa‘s Rainy Day Activities: (Log in to PE and Health Education for your child’s grade, and scroll to the very bottom for activity ideas.)
  • GoNoodle has some fun indoor activities also.
  • If possible, enjoy some fresh air with your families (remembering social distancing!).
  • Check out your local library for digital content that can be read online. Storyline is another online resource where books are read-aloud. Just be sure to preview content!

We hope that you and your families are still finding time to enjoy the sunshine and family time! We are continuing to pray for all of you. We will send further updates next week.

Blessings,
The RCOA Admin Team
