We look forward to serving our RCOA families well in the 2018/19 school year with our face-to-face options K-7. As a blended learning school, we value people and relationships as our greatest resource. It is an honour to build community with you through our group learning opportunities.
These face-to-face classes are a unique and important part of the RCOA experience. They create an environment for group learning, they promote community between families and within the school, and they provide opportunities for specialized instruction in keeping with the New Education BC Plan. Community Classes occur throughout the school year and are provided without cost to RCOA Distributed Learning grades K-7 students beyond the annual non-refundable registration fee.
Learners meet one day a week within their community. These classes have proven very popular, and almost all of our students participate. We have RCOA community classes running throughout the Lower Mainland and Southern Vancouver Island, each location serving between 30 and 130 students of varying grade levels. Some of our communities are changing locations and/or days of operation. Our website will be updated with details as these are finalized.
How many community classes are offered in each location is determined based on commitments made by June 1st. Expansion to other locations is not planned for 2018/19; however, we will consider adding locations if enough interest is generated and we can supply staffing/facilities as required.
If you are enrolling, re-enrolling, registering, or re-registering with RCOA for 2018-2019, your Community Class registration form is built into your application. There is no need to fill in a separate registration form for Community Classes. If you are not with RCOA – you may request a registration form from the Assistant Director of Community Classes, Kevin Laser (email@example.com).
Partners In Education (PIE) Program
What does it mean to be a Partner in Education?
We’re glad you asked! The PIE program is a partnership between you and your school (us!) that offers a unique blend of learning opportunities. Through the PIE program, your child will have some of the benefits of a classroom learning experience including social development, interaction with peers, large group activities, the building of a classroom community, and the personalized, face-to-face attention of a committed Christian teacher. Your PIE teacher will plan the classroom work and follow-up activities, taking some of the burden from you in the heavier content areas. In addition, you and your child will have the support of a teacher for your at-home program.
How many classes are offered in each location is determined based on commitments made by June 1st. Expansion to other locations is not planned for 2018/19 however we will consider adding locations if enough interest is generated and we can supply staffing and arrange a facility.
If you are enrolling or re-enrolling with RCOA, your PIE registration form is built into your application. There is no need to fill in a separate registration form for PIE, but you do need to pay your registration fee to secure you child’s spot in the program. Payment instructions will be emailed to you once your documentation is verified by our admissions advisors.
